The group that recommends how to spend Spokane Valley’s hotel taxes got a second look this week at how to spend $572,000. Spokane Valley’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee on Tuesday reviewed revisions made by the City Council to the group’s recommendations for spending the lodging tax next year.

Spokane Valley City Council met with Fourth District Legislators and lobbyists Tuesday afternoon to discuss items on its 2018 Legislative Agenda, placing among its priorities transportation funding for the Bridging the Valley project and Appleway Trail Park amenities.
Spokane Valley City Council has approved a plan to upgrade and expand the CenterPlace Regional Events Center to enhance community events and increase visitors. The 54,000-square-foot events center – which opened in 2005 – hosts about 1,000 events per year, including weddings, business conferences and larger community events such as Valleyfest, Crave NW and Oktoberfest.
About 150 protesters gathered Monday afternoon in downtown Spokane to denounce Republican tax reform proposals moving through Congress. All In For Washington, Greater Spokane Progress and the Peace & Justice Action League of Spokane organized the event. Protesters marched from the Thomas S. Foley United States Courthouse to the local office of U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers on Post Street.
