Governor backs school WiFi contract
Gov. Butch Otter has included money in his proposed state budget for next year to continue the five- to 15-year WiFi contract that state Superintendent of Schools Tom Luna signed this year with Education Networks of America. The initial funding was just from a one-year, one-time appropriation; in the governor’s proposed budget, it’d be part of an ongoing $10.4 million annual allocation for technology.
“I’m pleased to be able to announce today that, with your continuing support, we expect to have every elementary and middle school in Idaho hooked up to our broadband Internet education system by the end of fiscal 2015,” Otter said to applause.
