Black Maternal Health Week Film Festival

“Bringing Midwifery Back to Black Mothers,” in the face of disproportionate childbirth mortality rates, activists are fighting to make midwifery more available to Black mothers in the south. 90 minutes. April 14, 10-11:30 a.m; “Aftershock,” follows the families of two young Black women who died after giving birth. 120 minutes. April 14, 1-3 p.m. “Black Motherhood Through the Lens” is about four Black women’s experiences navigating the reproductive and maternal healthcare system. 180 minutes. April 14, 3-6 p.m.; “Birthing Justice” centers on the expertise and lived experiences of Black women and their advocates. 120 minutes. April 14, 6-8 p.m. Each film will be followed by an open discussion about the film, the connections to stories lived in our community and actions that can be taken.
