Author Brian Kimmel
Book reading and signing celebrating the release of “Blue Skies, Troubled Waters: An American Twin’s Odyssey in WWII Minahasa, Indonesia.” The book, co-authored with his grandmother, Martha Walandouw Lohn, is a profound story of resilience and a testament to the enduring power of family legacy. The presentation will begin with the dramatic tale of Kimmel’s great-grandfather’s leap into Brooklyn Harbor as a young immigrant. He will then guide the audience through his family’s incredible journey of deportation, survival in a Japanese POW camp in Indonesia during WWII, and their long path back to the United States.
