Mathematical Insights into Falling in the Elderly
June 18. The Pacific Northwest Section of the Mathematical Association of America and Gonzaga University’s College of Arts & Sciences invite you to attend John Milton, M.D., Ph.D.’s lecture on elderly falls. Falls are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the elderly. Dr. Milton will discuss the mathematical relationship between human balance control and sensory dead zones and their implications for the elderly. His research supports practical solutions in the form of shoes with vibrating insoles.
