“York”

To recognize and celebrate Black History Month, with promotional assistance from the Spokane Chapter of the NAACP, the powerful one-man play “York,” performed by David Casteal and directed by Susan Hardie. David portrays the character York, who was William Clark’s personal slave. York accompanied Clark and the other members of the Corps of Discovery as the only black man on the Lewis and Clark Expedition, an Expedition which left St. Louis in the spring of 1804 to explore the uncharted West and returned there in the fall of 1806.
