Full GOP field to fill Clark’s post
The hottest legislative race in North Idaho this spring is the four-way contest for the House seat in District 3 that’s opening up due to seven-term Rep. Jim Clark’s retirement. The matchup between the four candidates, all of whom are actively campaigning, is the final chapter in this story – no Democrat has filed for the seat, so the GOP primary winner on May 25 will be the district’s new representative in Boise.

Idaho Supreme Court candidates spar
BOISE – Two candidates for the Idaho Supreme Court matched off in a fiery debate Tuesday and immediately sparred over ratings released by the Idaho State Bar earlier in the day. The survey of lawyers rated Idaho Supreme Court Justice Roger Burdick much more highly than 2nd District Judge John Bradbury, who’s challenging Burdick in the May 25 election. Bradbury decried the bar survey as “a disgrace” and “dishonest.”
Ad puts bailouts in spotlight
BOISE – In a new TV commercial airing across the 1st Congressional District, GOP candidate Vaughn Ward says “the only way to stop reckless spending” by the federal government is to “end government bailouts and ban earmarks.” The campaign ad, Ward’s second of the campaign and the first to hit the North Idaho airwaves in the race, is prompting discussion about how Ward and others would approach congressional earmarks and about whether ending earmarks and bailouts would actually solve the federal budget problem.
