* Race percentages are calculated with data from the Secretary of State's Office, which omits write-in votes from its calculations when there are too few to affect the outcome. The Spokane County Auditor's Office may have slightly different percentages than are reflected here because its figures include any write-in votes.

About The Measure

Advisory Vote 2 asks an opinion on a bill that extended the tax on some petroleum products earlier this year. The state had 0.5 percent tax on those products that was due to expire in 2013; the Legislature dropped the rate to 0.3 percent but extended it to 2020. A fiscal analysis estimates that will raise an extra $24 million. The change passed 93-1 in the House and 40-0 in the Senate, was signed by the governor and went into effect. The vote is required by a previous initiative, but is advisory – the Legislature can see what voters think of their actions, but aren’t obligated to change the law if the “no” votes outnumber the “yes” votes.
