Education: Graduated from Steilacoom High School in 1995. Holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Morehouse College and obtained a law degree from Harvard Law School in 2002.

Work experience: Served in Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He worked as a defense lawyer and prosecutor before working at the Department of Justice as an assistant U.S. attorney. Served as general counsel for Washington Gov. Jay Inslee. Appointed by Joe Biden as the U.S. Attorney for Western Washington. Now works part-time at Pacifica Law Group.

Political experience: First run for office.

Family: Married. Has two children.

Campaign finance: Raised more than $1.8 million as of Oct. 2, 2024, according to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission. Donors include: the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, Tacoma Firefighters Union, BlueChip Financial in North Dakota, Democratic Attorneys General Association, Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake Tribe of California, Washington State Auto Dealers Political Action Committee and the Washington Education Association PAC.
