Step 1: Cut an apple in half, doing your best to create two flat surfaces.

Step 2: Cut notches on the rounded side of the apple so you have something to grip when making your prints.

Step 3: Place a paper towel on a plate and then squirt a small amount of paint on the paper towel. You want to create sort of an ink pad effect rather than a puddle of paint. By the way, actual ink pads work well, too.

Step 4: Press the apple onto the paper. Press firmly and evenly.

Step 5: Once the prints dry, cut out the apple shapes from the paper. Tape them to popsicle sticks or long toothpicks, and then insert the cupcake toppers into frosted cupcakes.
