A machine separates the one percent of solid matter left in the effluent at the Riverside Park Water Reclamation Facility on Feb. 12, 2019. The water is expelled from directly underneath the solid matter, and the solids continue onward to wastewater digesters where they will ferment before continuing on to a secondary system of filtration to reduce pollutants.
