Spokane Public Library challenges families to read to young children
The Spokane Public Library has launched the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program to encourage families to read to children every day before they begin school. A national nonprofit of the same name, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, offers a guide parents and guardians can use to keep track of their progress. The nonprofit says if you read just one book a night, you’ll read 365 books in a year. In two years, the number will grow to 730, and by the third year, you’ll surpass the goal at 1,095 books.
