Tom’s Turkey Drive
Tuesday was the annual turkey giveaway and thousands of meals were given away. Much of the food was gathered by Tom’s Turkey Drive, named for KREM-TV weatherman Tom Sherry, and generous donations of sponsors like Numerica, Rosauers, Washington Dairy Farmers, Franz bakeries, and others, and organized by Second Harvest food bank.

Jack Billingsley Jr. fits a box of Thanksgiving food into his pull wagon which he will use to transport his bounty to where he lives near downtown Spokane, Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, after picking up the meal preparations at Second Harvest, the regional food bank. The massive food distributor gave away most of their turkey meals to people in cars at the Spokane Fair and Expo Center, but distributed boxed meals to those on foot or riding public transit at their warehouse near downtown Spokane. Billingsley said he walks most everywhere he goes. The food came from Tom’s Turkey Drive, Second Harvest and donors like Numerica, Franz Bakeries, Itron, Washington Dairy Farmers, Starbucks, Rosauers and others.
