Summary

Shadle Park's middle of the order came up big for the Highlanders, who bested North Central to claim the District 8 3A championship Thursday at Whitworth.

Laurie Jones, Jaya Allen and Sarah Tiffany, Shadle's three, four and five hitters, reached base a combined 11 times in 12 plate appearances. Jones drove in a pair of runs, while Allen scored once and batted in one. Kaitlyn Scoble added a run on a 3-for-4 effort.

Allen also tossed a complete game with five strikeouts and just one walk.

Kaylee Levien got the Indians back in the game with a three-run shot to left-center in the top of the sixth, but NC couldn't get any closer.

Both teams will now move on to regionals in Richland on May 23. Shadle (19-2) will play the No. 1 seed from the Mid-Columbia Conference, with the winner gaining a berth to state. NC (10-11) will face the MCC's No. 2 in a loser-out contest.
