Cheney's season ended in heartbreak Saturday, as the Blackhawks lost on penalties at Quincy after a scoreless draw in a state play-in game. Kam Galm made six saves to preserve the tie, but the Jackrabbits prevailed 5-4 in the shootout. Quincy will travel to Pullman on Tuesday for the first round of state.

Going into a shootout still 0-0, Pullman scored on three penalty kicks while Cheney only made two as the Greyhounds won the District 7 championship 1-0. Micah Lagerquist, Rob Clark and Matt Winchell each scored for Pullman in the shootout. Will Pitzer came in for the overtimes, and while he only had one save, he made two key stops in the shootout.
