Hailey Higashi scored 22 points and sixth-seeded St. George's (23-3) eliminated No. 14-seed Walla Walla Academy (18-9) 48-22 on Wednesday in the first round of the State 2B tournament at the Spokane Arena. St. George's advances to face fifth-seeded Ilwaco on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. in the quarterfinals. The Dragons used a 13-5 second quarter to take control, then pulled away with a 17-5 third.

Parker Esary scored 19 points and Kalama (22-3) defeated the Dragons (21-3) 53-49 on Friday in a 2B state regional round game at Mark Morris HS in Longview. St. George’s led 27-23 at intermission but cooled off in the second half and Kalama capitalized with a 17-13 run in the fourth to secure the win.
