  • Mirror images at a little South Hill treasure, Cannon Hill Park. Vinny watches the ducks swim, while taking a break. Taken Aug. 5, 2020.

  • Here is the Marsh wren image. They are not an endangered bird but quite hard to see because they live in the marsh weeds and cattails. They flit around quickly, you can hear them yet not see them.I was just lucky to encounter this very sociable little character. I have been shooting wild life now for 19 years as an outlet from my people photography business. I have pretty well retired from people photography. The bottom line is, if you place yourself out there a great deal, know your equipment, know lighting, the law of averages takes over. You'll get good images.

  • After the heavy storm this past Sunday I bagged this big fella on the auto circle drive at Turnbull Refuge Monday morning at 7:45 AM. He was a beauty and his coat had no scares, burs or ticks. He even allowed me about five minutes to image him. It was as if he was enjoying the warmth of the sun after the big storm the day before.

We reside in an older housing development on 5 mile prairie in which most residents has acreage. Occasionally have moose wander up from the Little Spokane River Valley into the neighborhood. (side note- the moose have visited twice, around the same time on the morning of the 8/16 and 8/17.)

  • The Granite Gulch fire had our attention during our trip to the Wallowas. It surrounded us on three sides and had our exit route cutoff. For Milky Way photos you want to be away from city lights, and have no clouds or smoke. On August 1st the fire's light was brighter than the lights of Spokane and the clouds and smoke reflected it. ... Sometimes you get the best photo when everything goes wrong.
