Your Outdoor Photos: September 2021

The Inland Northwest is full of flora, fauna, waters, scenery and active people out to savor it all. Please visit this gallery regularly to share photos of your wild experiences, learning moments, hot discoveries, favorite trips. Help us build a visual tour of what's so great about the outdoors in this region through all four seasons. This photo gallery will be an inspiration to some people. To others it will be a reminder of why we love to live here – and get outside as much as possible.

  • It is elderberry season much to the delight of the Yellow-rumped Warbler. This very active, pretty little bird is also known in the West as Audubon's Warbler. A name she may just prefer :). From my kayak on Hauser Lake.

  • A juvenile White-winged Scooter on Hood Canal near Union, WA. These birds have extremely hydrophobic feathers as can be witnessed by the beads on the bird's back and near the tail. It must be nice to swim in cold water inside a down dry suit. Taken 6 Sept. 2021.

  • I believe this to be a young Coopers Hawk that allowed me to get pretty close for this photo the hawk had it's prey but I could not tell what it had a raptor will sometimes let you get close when it has it's prey.
