Fire crews near Liberty Lake and Cheney are battling a pair of fires, both several acres in size that were reported within an hour of each other Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters at a fire near Soap Lake kept the blaze within designated boundaries Wednesday despite gusty winds, according to a news release from Washington State Patrol. The fire was 90 percent contained as of Wednesday night.
