Auction site listed supposed Duncan letter

A letter purportedly sent by convicted sex offender Joseph Edward Duncan III was listed on an Internet auction site that specializes in selling items related to serial killers. The letter was listed for auction starting at $20 on a site called murderauction.com. The seller was listed as jerry4516. Efforts to address an e-mail to jerry4516 were kicked back with an error message.

Duncan may face child porn charges

Joseph Edward Duncan may face several federal charges for felonies he allegedly committed in Montana while holding Dylan and Shasta Groene captive, including production of child pornography, the Idaho U.S. Attorney's office said Friday. The office is waiting to file charges in the kidnappings of both children and the death of Dylan Groene until the state's murder case against Duncan is finished. Other felony charges may be filed in connection with those crimes, U.S. Attorney spokeswoman Jean McNeil said.

Attorney wants statements held back

The attorney for murder suspect Joseph Edward Duncan III is asking the court to suppress statements that Duncan allegedly made during jailhouse interviews in late July. Public Defender John Adams said in the motion that statements Duncan allegedly made to authorities on July 19-20 were obtained in violation of Duncan's right to remain silent and to have an attorney present during questioning.

Duncan’s extradition will wait

Joseph Edward Duncan won't be extradited to Minnesota to face charges for a July 2004 assault on two children at a Minnesota playground until after the state of Idaho finishes criminal proceedings against the convicted sex offender, a Kootenai County District Court judge ruled Tuesday. A fully bearded Duncan appeared via a video link from the Kootenai County Jail for Tuesday's hearing before Judge Benjamin Simpson. The murder suspect did not speak during the hearing, which lasted only a moment or two.

Duncan silent on charges

Suspected serial killer Joseph E. Duncan III didn't utter a word Tuesday, even as a judge informed him he could face the death penalty if convicted of murdering a North Idaho family. The 42-year-old sex offender gazed expressionlessly at his hands during his District Court appearance as the judge read the charges that he plotted and carried out a plan to kidnap and murder three people "by inflicting severe and extensive head trauma."

Duncan will enter plea today

COEUR d'ALENE – With the number of child slayings in which he is considered a suspect increased to six, registered sex offender Joseph Edward Duncan III will enter a plea today to charges that he murdered three members of a local family. Authorities contend Duncan killed the three in their home near Coeur d'Alene in mid-May so he could kidnap and molest Shasta and Dylan Groene.

Duncan lawyer stops cop interviews

Any new jailhouse revelations are unlikely to come from Joseph E. Duncan III until after his trial on murder and kidnapping charges. Shortly after Duncan was arrested July 1 in connection with the Groene murder case, he shared information with authorities that implicated him in the deaths of two Seattle girls and a Riverside County, Calif., boy, law enforcement sources have told The Spokesman-Review.

New judge picked for Duncan case

First District Judge Fred Gibler has been assigned to Kootenai County's biggest criminal case after fellow Judge John Mitchell was disqualified by the Kootenai County prosecutor. The prosecutor filed a motion Monday to automatically disqualify Mitchell from hearing the case against Joseph E. Duncan III, who is charged with three counts of first-degree murder, and three counts of first-degree kidnapping.
