Heather Thomas-Taylor has helped engineer the move of Hope House to the Downtown Spokane Public Library to provide shelter for women during the coronavirus pandemic.

With nearly all business shuttered and most people remaining home, Spokane Police Officer Richie Plunkett said many of those who are still downtown are struggling.

With the coronavirus pandemic in full force, Sonnenberg’s has been extremely busy for over a month. “It’s been absolutely crazy,” Dan Englehart said. “They want to get a big quantity of meat in their freezers and stay home.”

The Air National Guard sent 20 guardsmen to local food banks, including 15 at Second Harvest, to help with the increased need for food in Spokane.

Firefighter, Shawn Pichette has always wanted to give back to his community. For the past 10 years, he has done just that working in the Spokane Valley Fire Department.

Eleanor Weisblat found herself with extra time on her hands after Gonzaga University closed most of its campus last month due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Weisblat has been volunteering at the drive-up clinic at the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center while also taking online courses toward her graduation.
