Gonzaga women’s basketball could look internally to replace Kelly Graves

Less than a day after word broke that Kelly Graves accepted the women’s basketball coaching job at Oregon, his photo and biography went missing from the Gonzaga athletics web page. The abrupt end to the Graves era now thrusts what had been a model of consistent success into an arena full of uncertainty. But the outgoing coach and a longtime rival both said they think the Bulldogs’ brass should first look at their own bench for his replacement.

Cougars manage big win over Ducks

SEATTLE – The Washington State women’s basketball team found itself in a track meet with an Oregon team that loves to run. Cougars aim to shoot down Ducks

Points haven’t come easy for the Washington State basketball team this season, which is last in the Pac-12 in scoring at 62.6 points per game. Today against Oregon they’ll face a foe that has struggled in conference play except when it comes to putting points on the board. The Ducks (17-8, 5-8 Pac-12) are the conference scoring leaders, averaging 83.5 points per game. Though UO has disappointed since entering conference play ranked No. 10 in the country, they still have something to play for.

Four corners: Washington State Cougars

COMING UP: Tonight at Oregon State, 6 (Pac-12 Wash.); Sunday at Oregon, 6 p.m. (Pac-12 Wash.) OUTLOOK: The Cougars are playing better basketball of late but have yet to translate that into wins. While the team came close against the Bay Area schools last week, they were unable to seal the deal against either team. The return of DaVonte Lacy has increased WSU’s scoring output in Pac-12 games from just over 49 points per game to 66. With criticism around the program ramping up, there will be increased scrutiny during the season’s last few weeks. The Cougars’ season has been disappointing but they can still salvage some progress with a few road wins.
