Clark: Thanks to all who helped stop monster bin Laden

There are those who say it’s always wrong to revel in another’s misfortune. There are those who say the old “eye-for-an-eye” philosophy has no place in a civilized society. There are those who say that killing another human being is never justified. I have three words for those who say these things. Go pound sand.

Clark: Interim vortex will engulf chief

In like a lioness. Out like a mugging victim. Can’t say I was too shocked to read that Anne Kirkpatrick has already told the mayor to start trolling the asylums for another Spokane police chief.

Clark: Strong spirit sustains her

When life hands you a lemon, so the old cliché goes, you’ll hopefully find the inner grace to whip up some lemonade. But what do you make when life pelts you with lemons at the speed of major league fastballs?

Doug Clark: Doomsday may be looming, but don’t fret

It should be obvious to everyone by now that the world is going to end on May 21 or next year on Dec. 21 or sometime pretty darned soon, anyway. So today I must ask: Have you given any thought to what you’re going to wear or what to pack when it all comes down?

Doug Clark: Switch to semesters strokes ego of avid Eagle

Today I’m giving a rare “hats off” salute to Washington lawmakers for taking a break from screwing over taxpayers to officially honor Eastern Washington University, my alma mater, on our recent national football championship. As my astute colleague, Jim Camden, reported the other day:

Clark: Spokane bigger than Tacoma? Betting on it

I hope nobody minds, but I have put our Spokane pride on the line in a friendly cross-state wager with Peter Callaghan, a columnist with the Tacoma News Tribune. Our bet centers on the soon-to-be-released U.S. census numbers that will reaffirm my hometown as Washington’s second-largest metropolis.
