Newcomers Fill Timberlake High Coaching Slots

When the second high school opens in the Lakeland School District next fall, all current head coaches at the Rathdrum high school will return to their jobs. That means the head coaches at the new school, Timberlake High in Spirit Lake, will be just like the school - new. When coaches and teachers at Lakeland were asked where they wanted to work in the fall, most requested Lakeland. And those requests were honored.

St. Maries Boys Team Sees A Bright Future

Idaho A-2 boys St. Maries didn't pull off another miracle finish Saturday morning. The Lumberjacks weren't wearing long faces, though, after falling to No. 1-ranked Emmett 65-53 in the State A-2 boys basketball tournament third-place game at Meridian High School.

Viks’ Task Daunting First-Round Foe Capital Offers Major Challenge

Larry Bieber has done his homework. Now he hopes his students assimilate the information he passes on and score well on their test(s) this week. Bieber, the Coeur d'Alene High boys basketball coach, and his assistant, John Astorquia, flew to Boise on Saturday morning and drove to Twin Falls to watch a state qualifying game between Highland and Capital.

Cda Boys Look To End Long Drought In State A-1 Tourney

The Coeur d'Alene High boys basketball team will be seeking something no Vikings team has captured in 11 years next week - a state trophy. Making its first trip to state since 1993-94, Coeur d'Alene (19-4) will meet Capital of Boise (21-4) in a State A-1 opener Thursday at the Idaho Center in Nampa. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. PST. CdA placed second in 1987. The Viks' opener is the second of four games Thursday. Lewiston (19-6) earned a berth Saturday by defeating Skyview of Nampa 64-54 in a play-in game. The Bengals will take on Pocatello (19-5) immediately following the CdA-Capital opener at 5:30. In the other openers, No. 1-ranked Skyline (20-4) meets Eagle (14-9) and Borah (20-3) takes on Bonneville (14-11).
