Chiefs stage final dress rehearsal

The Spokane Chiefs will kick it up a notch tonight as the team takes the ice for its final Western Hockey League exhibition game. Spokane plays host to the Seattle Thunderbirds in a 7 p.m. game at Eagles Ice-A-Rena, its only home exhibition game.

Chiefs pick up another goaltender

The Spokane Chiefs picked up some insurance on Thursday. The Western Hockey League team acquired goaltender Keyvan Hunt, 18, from the Saskatoon Blades for a conditional sixth-round selection in the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft.

In the town where he matured as an amateur hockey player and met his future wife, Cam Severson hangs out on the fringe of a group of hockey players who are all at least five years his junior. He's present, but his thoughts are elsewhere. But he dreams of getting a phone call — the call that says there will be a National Hockey League season.
