Delays now on I-90 near Snoqualmie, more lanes later

Starting tonight, blasting work for a major expansion of Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass will close the freeway in both directions for up to an hour at least twice a week. I-90 will be expanded from four lanes to six lanes on the east side of the pass.

Panicked family members tried to claw their way through a burning Spokane home Friday morning to rescue a 5-year-old boy trapped in the basement but were turned back each time by thick smoke and fire. Four of them were injured in the attempts.

Wild drive ends in arrest

A 22-year-old Worley, Idaho, man with a history of driving under the influence was being held in the Spokane County Jail Thursday after a wild ride that involved at least two accidents in southeast Spokane County. Toma N. Moses was booked on charges of driving under the influence, hit and run and driving with a suspended license. Other charges are pending following the Wednesday evening incident, deputies said.

Code violations close Muzzy Mansion to lodgers

The historic Muzzy Mansion Bed and Breakfast on Spokane’s North Side has been ordered to close because the owners failed to comply with city codes in converting the residential structure to a lodging facility.
