Self-Described Hero A Phony, Police Say

A man who claimed he rescued a woman from three rapists a month ago merely faked the incident to impress his girlfriend, Post Falls Police said Tuesday. Robert Stephen Levan also faked his own kidnapping, Spokane Sheriff's officials said. "As it turned out, he lied from start to finish," said Post Falls Police Sgt. Dick Halligan.

Red-faced and giggling with embarrassment, a 14-year-old boy described having sex with his uncle's girlfriend, while his uncle joined in. On Monday, the teen's 13-year-old brother quietly told a judge that he too had sex with the woman while his uncle stood nearby.

Felony Charges Filed In Chase Spokane Men Topped 100 Mph, Kootenai Prosecutors Charge

Prosecutors filed several felony charges Monday against the two Spokane men accused of leading North Idaho officers on a half-hour high speed chase. The Kootenai County prosecutor filed grand theft auto and eluding charges Monday against James Pilcher, 20, and James Taie, 28. Taie also was charged with aggravated assault. The two are accused of leading officers on a chase Saturday that reached speeds of 100 mph.

Spokane Men Arrested After High-Speed Ride

Sheriff's deputies arrested two Spokane men Saturday after the pair led them on a half-hour, high-speed chase that sometimes topped 100 mph. Officers from three agencies chased James P. Taie and James E. Pilcher after they allegedly stole a pickup truck from a Hayden home.
