Ninteen-year-old Alex Rodriguez’s first stint in the major leagues ended Tuesday when the Seattle Mariners sent him down to Class AAA Calgary.

The Mariners’ No. 1 pick in last year’s draft started the season at Class A Appleton and was promoted to Class AA Jacksonville before being brought up July 8.

Rodriguez, who was the youngest player in the majors, turned 19 on July 27. He hit .204 with two RBIs and three stolen bases. He walked three times and struck out 20 times in 54 at-bats. He also made six errors.

Infielder Torey Lovullo and right-hander Jeff Darwin were recalled from Calgary, and right-hander Shawn Boskie went on the disabled list with a strained muscle in his back.
