With a $13,128 carryover on a statewide simulcast night, the pool for the second half of the twin trifecta seems certain to top $20,000. So, if you like a horse in each race, you almost have to take a shot at it.
The Bruce and Annette Wagar stable may hold the key. Their first-time starter, Holy Bud, has the works to be a factor in the sixth race, where Thataway Jack, who may be a trap horse, is the one to beat. The Wagars start Chalkafire in the seventh. Draw a line through his dull last outing and Chalkafire shows a pair of convincing, wire-to-wire wins.
The Wagars start another live horse, stretch-running Regal’s Precious, in the featured 10th.
