Labor Ready Profits Rise
Labor Ready Inc. has reported record net income and sales for the second quarter, ended June 30.
Labor Ready, based in Tacoma, is the successor to Dick’s Hamburger’s Inc., which was spun off by the popular Spokane hamburger restaurant but foundered as a franchisee operation.
In 1989, shareholders voted to flip from burgers to temporary labor. They approved an agreement with a Florida franchiser that gives the renamed company revenues from placement offices in the Western United States.
Labor Ready has grown to 30 offices in 12 states and British Columbia, almost double the 17 offices open a year ago. There is a Spokane office.
For the quarter, income was $327,329, or 11 cents per share, vs. a $12,353 loss, or one cent per share, for the same period a year ago.
Sales were $8.3 million, up from $3.5 million.
For the first six months of the year, net income was $192,478, or seven cents per share, vs. $37,028, or one cent per share, a year ago.
Sales were $13.5 million, up from $6 million.
