Dennis Teal Tensed, Idaho

Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Colfax, Wash., for Dennis A. Teal. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home in Tekoa, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Teal died Tuesday near Palouse, Wash., from injuries suffered in a plane crash. He was 41. He was born in Colfax and graduated from Colfax High School and attended Spokane Community College.

He and his wife moved to Tensed and had operated Teal’s Flying Service since 1978.

He was a member of the Baptist Church in Colfax, the Benewah County Weed Board, National Aerial Applicators Association and the Pacific Northwest Aerial Applicators Alliance. He was the current vice president of the Idaho Aerial Applicators Association and was Tensed Fire District commissioner and served on the Benewah Planning and Zoning Commission. He was a member of the Tekoa Booster Club and Tekoa Jaycees.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanene Teal, at the home; two sons, Derek and Darren Teal, and one daughter, Jessica Teal, all at the home; his father and stepmother, Alfred and Georgia Teal, and two brothers, Don and Mark Teal, all of Colfax; and one sister, Jan Juette of Madras, Ore.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tensed Fire Department or the Tekoa-Oakesdale Booster Club.

David Vehling Spokane

Memorial service for David R. Vehling, 62, will be held at 7 p.m. today at Manito Presbyterian Church. There will be private inurnment. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vehling, who died Tuesday, was born in Orange, N.J.

He received a bachelor of science degree from Purdue University and a master of business administration degree from George Washington University. He served in the Air Force for 30 years and retired as a colonel in 1981. After his retirement Mr. Vehling worked as the business administrator for Manito Presbyterian Church for 10 years.

He was a member of the Daedalians and the Air Force Association. He was past director of the Lilac Festival, treasurer of Sigma Phi Epsilon Alumni Board and was a master gardener.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patsy Vehling, at the home; two daughters Cynthia Vehling of Los Angeles and Susan Panisello of Spokane; one sister, Barbara Bowles of Greeley, Colo.; and one granddaughter.

Dale `Bud’ Riegel Moses Lake

Memorial service for Dale L. “Bud” Riegel, 67, is planned for 1 p.m. today at Moses Lake First Baptist Church. Kayser’s Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Riegel, who died Friday, was born in Spring Valley, Wash., and was a salesman. He retired in 1988.

He was a member of the Moses Lake Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol Riegel, at home; one son, Paul Riegel; one daughter, Connie Goff; one sister, Jean Simpson of Spokane; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Moses lake.

Alva Browning Spokane

Service for Alva Lee Browning, 77, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Open Bible Church of the Valley. Burial will be at Pines Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Browning, a 53-year Spokane resident, died Monday. He was born in Ethel, W. Va.

He worked for Lilenqist Motors and was co-owner of TLC Sales for the past 33 years. He previously worked for Ford Motor Co. Heavy Truck Division.

He attended the Open Bible Church of the Valley.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lucille Browning, at the home; one daughter Barbara Clayton of Burlington, Wash.; two sons, Larry Browning of Port Townsend, Wash., and Stephen Browning of Spokane; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.

John Cool Spokane

Service for John F. Cool, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Greenacres Baptist Church. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Cool, who was born in Harlan, Mich., died Tuesday. He lived in Spokane County for 47 years and was a dairy farmer in Green Bluff from 1936 until 1964. He also worked for Haskin Steel as a carpenter for 10 years, retiring in 1974. He previously worked for the Forestry Service.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Cool, at the home; two sons, John Cool of Laconia, N.H., and Roger Cool of Plummer, Idaho; two daughters, Cheryl Woolery and Barbara Sapp, both of Spokane; one sister, Mable Miller of Post Falls; one brother, Eldon Cool of Joseph, Ore.; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was a member of the Greenacres Baptist Church.

Marte Lackman-Hardin Spokane

Memorial service for Marte Lackman-Hardin, 72, is planned for 6 p.m. today at Harvest Christian Fellowship. Private inurnment will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Lackman-Hardin, who died Monday, was born in Clearmont, Wyo.

She volunteered at North Central Care Center for 12 years and became a resident there in 1993 following a stroke.

She is survived by her husband, Hamilton Hardin, at the home; two daughters, Dixie Karlberg of Seattle and Sandy Walker of Spokane; one son, Hal Lackman of Spokane; three sisters, Betty Jane Gorremans of Spokane, Betty Gasser of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Annette Spellmann of Chimayo, N.M.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Master’s Commission at Harvest Christian Fellowship.

Maryellen Therriault Spokane

At her request, no service will be held for Maryellen T. Therriault. Private inurnment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Therriault, 77, died Saturday. She was a lifetime Spokane resident and was a homemaker.

She is survived by one brother, Donn Thompson; and one sister, Jane Evans, both of Spokane.

Joshua Watts Rockford

Graveside service for Joshua Robert Watts, 17 months old, is planned for 10 a.m. today at Freeman (Wash.) Cemetery. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Spokane, he died Sunday at a Seattle hospital from burns suffered in a tent fire Saturday. He was camping with his family in North Idaho.

He is survived by his parents, Bill and Juile Watts, and one brother, Brandon Watts, all at the home; and his grandparents.

Theresa Lewis Spokane

Rosary service will be held for Theresa M. Lewis at 7:30 p.m. today. No service will be held. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lewis, a 28-year Spokane resident, died Tuesday. She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

She worked as a sales clerk at Kmart and was a member of the Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jack Lewis, at the home; one son, John Lewis of Spokane; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Patricia Hutton Wilhelm Spokane

Memorial service for Patricia Marie “Pat” Hutton Wilhelm, 45, is planned for 5 p.m. today at Finch Arboretum. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Wilhelm, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Tuesday.

She graduated from West Valley High School and attended Eastern Washington University. She was a liaison for School District 81.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary-Hope Wilhelm of Spokane.

Calvin Simmons Spokane

At his request, no service will be held for Calvin J. Simmons. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mr. Simmons, who died Tuesday, was born in Burnsville, N.C. He was 73.

He lived in Spokane for 40 years and was a laborer.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Simmons, at the home; one stepdaughter, Karen Welch of Spokane; one stepson, Dale Holton of Chattaroy; one brother, Bill Simmons, and one sister, Frankie Westall, both of Burnsville, N.C.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ray Ruth Chewelah, Wash.

No service will be held for Ray Ruth, at his request.

Mr. Ruth, who was born in Pasco, died June 27.

He worked for Beardmore Transfer in Spokane as a dispatcher and for Garrett Freight Lines in Seattle.

He and his wife, Alice Ruth, had lived at Chewelah Manor for the past 19 years.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Marjorie Crowe of St. Maries; two stepsons, Delbert Stone of Spokane and Robert Stone of Portland; and many grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chewelah Senior Citizen Center.

Charles Headley Coeur d’Alene

Private service was held for Charles Newton Headley, 85.

Mr. Headley, who died Friday, was born in Baker, Ore.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1934. He and his brother-in-law operated a rodeo in Coeur d’Alene and he also worked in construction before going to work for Potlatch. He retired in 1974.

He was a member of the Wood Workers Union.

His wife, Alta Headley, died in 1991. He is survived by one son, James Headley of Coeur d’Alene; one daughter, Evelyn Kuhlman of Coeur d’Alene; one sister, Rene Kay of Spokane; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Evangeline `Vangie’ Triplett Spokane

Service for Evangeline “Vangie” Triplett, 88, is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Triplett, who was born in Alpina, S.D., died June 28.

She worked for The Carpet Shop, which she later owned. Her husband took over the business and she graduated from Whitworth College with a master’s degree in education. She taught second grade at Longfellow Elementary.

She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and Dirt Daubers Garden Club.

Her husband, Vernon Triplett, died in 1987. She is survived by three daughters, Arlis Pietz and Irene Whicker, both of Spokane, and Kay Robbins of Kirkland, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, Hawthorne Manor Care Center or Whitworth College.

Maybelle Strosnider Spokane

No service will be held for Maybelle I. Strosnider, at her request. Private burial will be held at Seneaquoteen Cemetery south of Sandpoint.

Mrs. Strosnider, who died June 29, was born in Badrock, Mont.

She and her husband lived in Dover, Idaho, and moved to Tillamook, Ore., in 1929. Four years later they moved to Spokane, where they owned the C & M Grocery Store on East Sprague. During World War II they operated a pea ranch near Rockford, Wash.

Following the war they lived in Curlew, Wash., and in Neah Bay, Wash., where her husband, Carl Strosnider, worked at the Air Force base. He retired and they moved to Hamilton, Wash., in 1965. He died in 1968 and Mrs. Strosnider lived in Omak, Wash., until 1981, when she moved to Curlew.

She is survived by one daughter, Louise McKay of Curlew; one son, Don Strosnider of Cool, Calif.; one half-sister, Esther Munson of Indiana; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Dale Larson Spokane

Graveside service for Dale M. Larson, 78, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Larson, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Tuesday.

He graduated from North Central High School and worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Mead for 30 years. He was a World War II veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Doris Larson, at home; one gaughter, Linda Larson, and two sons, Doug and Andrew, all of Spokane; one sister, Rhea Cone of Gig Harbor, Wash; one brother, Carl Larson of Spokane; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Dr. Harry Anrode Spokane

Memorial service for Harry G. Anrode, M.D., 67, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

Dr. Anrode died Sunday at the Valley Good Samaritan Nursing Home following a long illness. He was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1938.

In 1952, he received his master of science degree in biochemistry from the University of Iowa. He received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and completed his medical internship at Deaconess Hospital in 1964.

He had a private practice in Spokane from 1965 until 1981 and served as a physician and surgeon on the staff of Spokane Valley Hospital. He held the position of chief chemist and director of the chemistry lab at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia from 1953 to 1959, staff physician at Eastern State Hospital in Medical Lake from 1964 to 1965, and president of Spokane Valley Hospital from 1973 to 1974. He also acted as an emergency room physician at Sacred Heart and Holy Family hospitals and as a senior aviation examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration.

He was a member of the county, state and American Medical Associations, as well as the county, state and American Academies of Family Practice. He served in the Army from 1944 to 1947.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Anrode, at the home; two daughters, Sheri Mueller of Spokane and Sandi Jones of Brighton, Colorado; and one grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Thomas Jefferson Medical College, 10th and Walnut, Philadelphia, Pa., or to Hospice of Spokane.

Lewis Botzon Spokane

Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home for Lewis A. Botzon. Burial will be in Portland.

Mr. Botzon, 74, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Sunday.

He worked in construction and served in the Marines during World War II.

Mr. Botzon was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his former wife, Rose Botzon, of Salinas, Calif.; four sons, Paul and Arthur Botzon, both of Spokane, Michael Botzon of Santa Cruz, Calif., and James Botzon of Killeen, Texas; one daughter, Barbara Nadherney of Deer Park; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Alvin J. O’Bleness St. Maries

Graveside service for Alvin J. O’Bleness is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Plummer (Idaho) Cemetery. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. O’Bleness, 89, died Monday. He was born in Edwards County, Kan., and moved to the Northwest in 1934.

He worked at Bunker Hill Mine for 20 years and moved to Quincy, Wash., where he farmed for 38 years. He retired in 1992 and moved to Worley, Idaho.

He is survived by his wife, Fern O’Bleness, at the home; one son, Lowell O’Bleness of Soap Lake, Wash.; three daughters, Arlene Jenneskins of Worley, Idonna O’Bleness of Arizona and Marylynn McConnell of Indiana; one brother, Ivan O’Bleness of Libby, Mont.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
