Gabriela Sabatini, beaten last week by a player ranked 88th in the world, regrouped against Argentine compatriot Maria Jose Gaidano with a 6-0, 6-0 rout in the Bausch & Lomb Championships.

Sabatini, seeded second and ranked No. 7 in the world, rolled to the easy victory in 59 minutes - her first career match against Gaidano, who is ranked No. 180 on the WTA Tour.

Her third-round match will be against another Argentine, Bettina Fulco-Villella, who upset 10th-seeded Sandra Cecchini of Italy 6-1, 6-4.

Cecchini was one of four seeds to lose. The most prominent upset was No. 4 seed Judith Wiesner of Austria, who lost 7-6, 6-4 to Katarzyna Nowak of Poland.
