“Tank Girl” leading lady Lori Petty got an earful from one of the best in the action-hero business - The Muscles from Brussels himself, Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Petty says in Entertainment Weekly that when they bumped into each other on an airplane, Van Damme told her: “Lori, put down that mimosa drink. You’re an action star now. Alcohol. Not healthy.”

Then, she says, “He actually tried to put vitamins in my drink.”

Van Damme walked away in disgust when Petty informed him that not only was she going to finish her cocktail, but she intended to light up a cigarette when they landed.

But he came back later and commanded: “Feel my butt. If you were healthier, you could have a butt like mine.”

Loose talk

R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, on his preferred habitat (in Details magazine): “I don’t like golf courses. They’re too consistent in texture, and it bothers me. I’d much rather be in a parking lot.”

Mom made her special sushi cake again? Oh, no!

R.E.M., scheduled to play The Gorge on May 21, issued a statement this week saying its touring plans are still “very much up in the air” following drummer Bill Berry’s brain surgery in Switzerland. But the band added: “Three weeks to the day after his surgery, Bill played a vigorous 18 holes of golf.”

He’s not letting either accident get him down

Lyle Lovett, recovering from both his breakup with Julia Roberts and a broken collarbone he suffered while motorbiking last month, returns to public view Sunday on ESPN’s “MotoWorld.”

By the way, how do you say ‘FCC’ in Spanish?

Radio shock jock Howard Stern has apologized for making fun of Mexican-American singing star Selena’s murder on the day of her funeral. “As you all know, I’m a satirical person. My comments about Selena’s tragic death … were not made with the intention of causing even more pain to her family, friends and those who loved her,” Stern said on Thursday’s show - in Spanish.

Her advice: remember, Jan still has it worse

Maureen McCormick, immortalized as Marcia on TV’s original “The Brady Bunch” sitcom, has released her debut album, titled “When You Get a Little Lonely.”

And they have a contract to keep it going

“Pulp Fiction” director Quentin Tarantino is tired of people thinking of his film as evil and Oscar winner “Forrest Gump” as good. “‘Gump’ is a very subversive comedy,” Tarantino told the Village Voice, “because it says that an idiot created everything in America.”
