Ex-Ewu Star Kellogg Keys Frankfurt Win
Former Eastern Washington University defensive back Jackie Kellogg intercepted three passes, returning the final one 46 yards for a touchdown as the Frankfurt Galaxy crushed the London Monarchs 45-22 Saturday in a World League season opener.
NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue attended the game, the World League’s first in two years. The allEuropean American football league is being backed by NFL teams.
“That’s part of the commitment we’ve made,” Tagliabue said. “It’s part of the partnership we have with Fox. With the entire focus now being on Europpe and the organization in place with Mark Rory as president, definitely I think it’s a different approach in every way. It’s a longterm developmental commitment.”
After Kellogg’s first interception off Brad Johnson, Clarence Williams went up the middle on the next play for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Following Daron Alcorn’s secondquarter field goals of 22 and 20 yards, Kellogg intercepted another pass off Johnson, setting up a Frankfurt drive that ended in Craig Thomas’ 1-yard plunge.
In the second half, Frankfurt padded its lead as Paul Justin threw 7 yards to Mario Bailey, Ralf Kleinmann kicked a field goal, Chris Hall intercepted Kevin McDougal’s pass to set up a TD drive and Kellogg returned his third pick for a TD.
