Huard Shines In UW Football Scrimmage
Senior quarterback Damon Huard completed 13 of 17 passes for 236 yards Saturday to lead the University of Washington’s first-team offense to three touchdowns in the team’s first football scrimmage of the spring season.
Huard’s favorite receiver was flanker Dave Janoski who raced for a 78-yard score on the second play of the scrimmage. Janoski finished the day with five receptions for 165 yards.
Leon Neal, who takes over at tailback for Napoleon Kaufman, carried the ball 13 times for 118 yards including a 23-yard scoring run.
Backup quarterback Michael Smith, playing with the third- and fourth-team units, completed 11 of 15 passes for 140 yards.
The Huskies’ final spring scrimmage will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The annual Purple-White game will be at Husky Stadium on April 22 at 12:30 p.m.
