Local Military Personnel Receive Promotions, Medals

The following local military persons have been promoted to their present ranks:

Capt. Joel San Nicholas, son of Adelina and Jose San Nicolas, Spokane, and 1989 graduate of Eastern Washington University. He is stationed with the Air Force at Fairchild AFB.

Airman First Class Adam Westensee, son of Carol Westensee, Spokane, is a 1993 graduate of North Central High School. He is stationed with the Air Force at Yokota Air Base, Tokyo.

2nd Lt. Michael Beck, Spokane, is a 1984 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School. He is stationed with the Air Force as a member of the 242nd Combat Communications Squadron, Spokane International Airport.

Spc. Jake Hartley, grandson of Genevieve Dean, Spokane, is a 1992 graduate of North Central High School. He is stationed with the Army at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii.

Seaman Lewis Weaser, son of Jessie Long, Chattaroy, is a 1991 graduate of Tonasket High School. He is stationed with the Coast Guard.

Cpl. Daniel Ballard, a 1986 graduate of Kellogg High School, is stationed with the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Master Sergeant Kevin Swenson, son of Clarence and Darlene Swenson, Spokane, is a 1979 graduate of Shadle Park High School. He is stationed with the Air Force at Misawa Air Base, Japan.

The following military person have been awarded Achievement Medals:

Sgt. Marryann Ramirez, daughter of Ali Johns, Spokane, is a 1987 graduate of East Valley High School. She is stationed with the Air Force at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Spc. Daron Brunke, son of Carla and David Brunke, Rathdrum, is a 1991 graduate of Lakeland High School, Rathdrum, Idaho. He is stationed with the Army at Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas.

Pfc. Grigory Senchenko, is the son of Nikoky and Valentina Senchenko, Spokane. He is stationed with the Army at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii.

Sgt. Laurence Babbitt, son of Pauletta Magnuson, Coeur d’Alene, is a 1986 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School. He is stationed with the Army in Friedburg, Germany.

The following military persons have been awarded Army Commendation Medals:

Sgt. Matthew Kinley, son of Elsie and Floyd Brinson, Deer Park, and stationed at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii.

1st Lt. Andrew Trout, son of William and Patricia Trout, Medical Lake, is stationed at Warner Barracks, Bamberg, Germany.
