Edwin Brown Coeur d’Alene

Service for Edwin M. Brown is set for 1 p.m. Monday at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery.

Mr. Brown, 66, died Wednesday at Pinewood Care Center in Coeur d’Alene.

He was born in 1928 in Denbeigh, N.D., and had lived in Fargo, N.D., Falon, Nev., Illinois and El Paso, Texas, before settling in Coeur d’Alene in 1991.

He graduated from high school in Granville, N.D., and from North Dakota Agriculture College.

He married Marlys Sandberg in 1956 in Grand Forks, N.D. She died in 1978.

He married Agnes Kascak in 1979. She died in 1990.

His memberships included Christ the King Lutheran Church and the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Aerie.

Survivors include his companion, Meredith Tritt of Coeur d’Alene; three stepdaughters, Kristi Warren of Kingston, Wash., Kathy Booth of Post Falls and Laura Garrison of Hayden, Idaho; two sisters, Sue Crawford of Towner, N.D., and Jan Monson of Coon Rapids, Minn.; and five grandchildren.

Katharine Swenson Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Katharine Racicot Swenson is set for 10 a.m. Monday at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Swenson, 69, who died Thursday in Coeur d’Alene, was born in Naples, Idaho. She moved to Sandpoint as a child and graduated from high school there. She also attended Whitworth College.

She worked as a secretary for Marjeans, the Selective Service Board, the Bonner County School District and the Multiple Listing Service.

She married Ray Swenson in 1965 in Sandpoint.

Mrs. Swenson was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Forty and Eight.

She enjoyed showing horses and taking walks.

Survivors include her husband, Ray, at home; one son, Dan Swenson of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; two grandchildren, Andy and Danielle Swenson of Santa Fe, Calif.; and one aunt, Ardis Racicot of Sandpoint.

Robert Lennon Otis Orchards

Service for Robert E. Lennon, 70, is set for 11 a.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Davenport.

Mr. Lennon died Wednesday.

He was born in Davenport, where he graduated from high school.

He served in the Navy during World War II and served for four years.

Following the war he owned and operated a restaurant in St. Helens, Ore.

He later attended Eastern Washington University and taught elementary school in Idaho and Montana.

In 1963 he and his wife, Betty Lennon, moved to Federal Way, Wash., where he worked as a building contractor.

They moved to Otis Orchards in 1988.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Brad Lennon of Bothell, Wash.; one sister, Shirley Larson of Davenport; and two grandchildren.

Cydne Welsford Spokane

Memorial service for Cydne D. Welsford, 38, is set for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. English Funeral Chapel of Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Welsford died Tuesday at Deaconess Medical Center. She was born Dec. 27, 1956, in Coeur d’Alene.

Survivors include her husband, Tom, and daughter, Nicole, both at home; her parents, Dorothy Webb of Hayden, Idaho, and Grant Kirk of Coeur d’Alene; one sister, Jody Miranda of Hayden Lake; one brother, Randy Kirk of Hayden; her stepfather, Sam Webb of Hayden; and five stepbrothers, Greg, Steve, Mike, John and Mark Webb.

Rachel Miner St. Regis, Mont.

Service for Rachel K. Miner, 97, was held Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial was at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Miner died Tuesday. She was born in Oklahoma Territory.

She moved to Spokane in 1946 from Marsing, Idaho, and had lived in Spokane for 38 years. She moved to St. Regis, Mont., in 1984 to live with her son.

Her husband, Orvie Miner, died in 1975.

She is survived by two sons, Leslie Miner of St. Regis and Dale Miner of Boise; five daughters, Opal Nelson of Winlock, Wash., Bessie Hubbard of El Cajon, Calif., Vernice Lee of Castle Rock, Wash., Valma Scruggs of Prince Frederick, Md., and Edith Doucette of Willimantic, Conn.; 30 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Faire Greenacres

Service for Mary G. Faire, 79, will be at 1 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Vault burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Faire died Tuesday.

She was born in Creston, Wash., and had lived in Spokane for 65 years.

She was a homemaker and volunteered with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. She was also involved in the Ladies Aid at Liberty Park United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Herbert Faire; two daughters, Irene Berman of Lakebay, Wash., and Joyce Hemphill of Vancouver, Wash.; one son, William Faire of Escondido, Calif.; one brother, Melvin Slinkard of Spokane; one sister, Ruth Jenicek of Lakeside, Mont.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

John Triplett Spokane

Graveside service for John W. Triplett, 77, will be at 1 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Triplett, who was born in Turner, Mont., died Wednesday.

He graduated from Cheney High School in 1936. He was a longtime Spokane resident and was a selfemployed land developer/excavator.

He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of Edgecliff Community Church and Elks Lodge No. 228.

Survivors include one son, Daryl Triplett of Chattaroy; one daughter, Ann Dahl of Wellpinit, Wash.; one sister, Irene Wohrle of Deer Park; one brother, Cecil Triplett of Puyallup, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Deer Park.

Jerry Starring Ritzville, Wash.

Graveside service for Jerry G. Starring, 57, will be at 2 p.m. today at Lind (Wash.) Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Starring, who was born in Lind, died Wednesday at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.

He and his wife, Arlene Starring, lived in Spokane, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction. They moved to Almira, Wash., in 1957 and he worked for McCall Farm Chemical. In 1962 they moved to Coulee City, Wash., where he continued to work for McCall Farm Chemical.

In 1965 he became a partner with Kerry Prather in K & J Farm Chemical. He and his second wife, Norma Yaeger, moved to Ritzville in 1979, and he purchased Telecky Manufacturing and Chemical. He closed that business in 1981 and began working for the city of Ritzville. Since 1988 he had worked for Cenex Transportation Co. as a dispatcher.

He was a member of the Ritzville Eagles Lodge and a member of the Ritzville and Coulee City Gun Clubs.

He is survived by one son, Mitch Starring of North Pole, Alaska; two daughters, Kim Fuller of Coulee City and Carol Amburgey of Buckley, Wash.; one stepson, Scott Yaeger of Ritzville; two sisters, Jeanette Wills of Lind and Arlene Gillingham of Cheney; and seven grandchildren.

Margaret Bonamici Spokane

Burial service for Margaret E. Bonamici, 75, will be at 10 a.m. today at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Spokane, Mrs. Bonamici died Tuesday.

She drove a bus for the Cheney School District for a number of years and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Pete Bonamici; one daughter, Virginia Leach of Long Beach, Wash.; two grandchildren; and one sister, Charlotte Rickard of Rolfe, Iowa.

Marion ‘Bugs’ Bugbee Spokane

Memorial service for Marion E. “Bugs” Bugbee, 85, is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at United Church of Christ. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Bugbee, who died Tuesday, was born in Sacramento, Calif.

He moved the Spokane Valley in 1945 and worked for Jacklin Seed Co., for 28 years.

During World War II he served in the Army and was awarded the Bronze Star.

His wife, Cecil Bugbee, preceded him in death.

He is survived by one foster son, Byron Lines of Fairfield, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Shirley Beardsley Spokane

Funeral Mass for Shirley M. Beardsley, 70, is set for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Beardsley, who died Tuesday, was born in Bottineau, N.D.

She had lived in Spokane for more than 55 years and was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Parish and was a precinct committeewoman.

She is survived by her husband, Norris Beardsley; one son, Dale Beardsley of Spokane; three daughters, Bridget Hoke of Spokane, Helen Hill of Kalama, Wash., and Colleen Foleen of Fort Lee, Va.; one brother, William Ollsen of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; eight grandchildren, and two stepgreatgrandchildren.

Frances Hastie Battle Ground, Wash.

Memorial Services for Frances G. Hastie, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.

Born in Butte, Mont., Mrs. Hastie died Saturday at a care center in Battle Ground, where she had lived since January.

She had been a Millwood resident since 1947.

Her husband, Harry Hastie, died in 1988.

She is survived by two daughters, Harriet Anderson of San Jose, Calif., and Carol Covert of Battle Ground; one brother, Frank Foster of Gig Harbor, Wash.; one sister, Betty Rowe of San Leandro, Calif.; four granddaughters and nine greatgrandchildren.

Louis (Cassano) Rossi Spokane

Vigil service for Louis (Cassano) Rossi, 80, will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mr. Rossi died Sunday.

He was born in Spokane and operated Cassano’s Import Italian Food Market at 314 E. Sprague, for several years.

He had served in the Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Elvira Rossi; one son, Louis Rossi Jr., and one brother, Tony Cassano, both of Spokane; and four sisters, Theresa Naccarato and Mary Perone, both of Spokane, and Rosie Crowder and Josie Kerwick, both of Silverdale, Wash.
