Five Residents Hurt In 3-Car Accident

From Staff And Wire Reports

Five Spokane residents were injured when one car rear-ended another, sending it into the path of a third vehicle in the Spokane Valley on Saturday morning.

Stevie Huynh, 7, suffered a concussion and remained in serious condition at Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Huynh was a passenger in a car driven by Le T. Dang, 40. Dang is in satisfactory condition at Sacred Heart after having surgery for internal injuries.

Joy D. Ruple, 63, broke her leg and was treated at Valley Hospital and Medical Center. She is in satisfactory condition.

Ruple’s passenger, Judy L. Lenneman, 55, was in serious condition at Deaconess Medical Center suffering from broken ribs, a bruised lung and a partially collapsed lung.

Kathy S. Kerr, 39, hurt her right wrist and knee and was treated at Valley Hospital and released.

Ruple had stopped her Honda four-door on Trent about 10:50 a.m. to make a left turn onto Dora, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The car was rear-ended by a Toyota pickup driven by Kerr. The force of impact pushed Ruple’s Honda across the center line and into the path of a Chevrolet station wagon driven by Dang.

Everyone but Ruple was wearing a seat belt, the WSP said.

No citations have been issued.
