Two Educators Named Distinguished Teachers
Spokane Public Schools have named Glenda Kozeliski and Debbie Rotchford as Distinguished Teachers for the third quarter of the 1994-95 school year.
Kozeliski is a combination first and second-grade teacher at Pratt Elementary School. She has taught for 25 years, the past 18 at Pratt. Most of her career has been devoted to teaching kindergarten.
Rotchford is a fifth-grade teacher at Wilson Elementary School. She has been a district employee and teacher for 20 years. She was one of the first teachers in the district to jobshare a classroom assignment.
Matt Hughes, son of David Corn, Spokane, and Kathleen Hughes, Seattle, placed first at the Washington State MathCounts competition at Boeing Headquarters in Seattle. He is an eighth-grader at Sylvester Middle School, Burien, Wash. He will travel to Washington, D.C., for the national competition to be held April 27-30.
Bo Engstrom Scholarships, sponsored by Eastern Washington Subcontractors & Suppliers Association, awarded scholarships to three area high-school seniors.
They are: Eric Anderson, Shadle Park High School; Travis Ruhl, Ferris High School; and Dustin Reed, Freeman High School.
Sara Edlin-Marlowe, assistant professor of communication arts and director of theater at Gonzaga University, has been selected for the 1995-97 Inquiring Mind Forum, sponsored by the Washington Commission for the Humanities. She will travel around the state performing a combination lecture/dramatic presentation of historical people. She also was recently elected secretary of the Northwest Drama Conference.
Lisa Deehr, Spokane, was recognized by the department of home economics of Ricks College, Rexburg, Idaho, as Second-year Outstanding Student in Interior Design.
