Cda Schedules Interviews For Five Football Finalists
Coeur d’Alene High School today will interview five finalists for its vacant head football coaching job, athletic director Larry Schwenke said.
The five are: Sean Tripp, Lake City High assistant coach; Will Havercroft, CdA assistant; Chris Hyta, former CdA assistant; Bill Anderson, head coach at Grandview High (near Yakima); and Mike McKinney, assistant at Palm Desert (Calif.) High.
Former Kellogg coach Randy Gleave, currently head coach at Hillcrest High in Idaho Falls, applied and was asked to interview but declined, Schwenke said.
“I think we’ve got excellent candidates and we’re really anxious to get going with the process,” Schwenke said.
The Vikings are replacing Greg Drake, who resigned after five seasons at the helm.
Of the finalists, all but Havercroft, a former Lakeland High assistant, have head coaching experience - Tripp at Mount Vernon High in Washington; Hyta at Grangeville (Idaho) High; Anderson at Powell, Wyo., LaSalle High in Milwaukie, Ore., St. Paul High in Oregon, and Asotin (Wash.) High; and McKinney at Corvallis (Mont.) High.
