Earthquake Causes Panic In Philippines
A moderate earthquake shook southern Philippines on Thursday, causing panic and traffic jams in at least one city. No damage was reported.
The 5.5-magnitude temblor was centered in the Philippine Sea, about 620 miles southeast of Manila, said Aimee Guanio, a spokesperson for the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
In Iligan, a city 190 miles northeast of the epicenter, panicky residents poured into the streets as buildings and market stalls swayed. Some terrified shoppers screamed, “Quake, quake! Run for your life!”
