Mountain Climber Shows Memorable Ascents

Professional mountain climber Todd Skinner will present a slide show highlighting some of his mostacclaimed ascents tonight at 8 in Spokane’s newest indoor climbing facility, Wild Walls.

Wild Walls, which is located in the old Armory building at W202 2nd Ave., is currently open to the public, with its grand opening scheduled for Saturday, April 29.

Skinner, who is rated a 5.14 climber, will share photos of his climbs in China, Thailand, South Africa, Amazon and Yosemite.

Cost for the slide show is $6.

Bowling

A pair of 737 series helped Al Riddler of Great Falls, Mont., grab the lead in mixed doubles and take over second place in mixed team in the fifth annual Lilac Gala Festival Tournament at Lilac Lanes.

Ridder rolled 243-259-235 with his Spot Bar team, which combined for a 2,679 behind the pace-setting 2,715 of Last Minute of Viola, Idaho. And he had 244-269-224 with Rose Walker as they combined for a leading 1,404 in mixed doubles.

George Renner of Craigmont, Idaho, leads men’s singles with a 755. Jennifer Stewart of Mead leads women’s singles with a 751.

Baseball

Ever dreamed of coming out of the cornfields with the legends of lore from the movie “Field of Dreams” and playing on that field?

Well, here’s your chance - not to come out of the cornfields with the legends, but to play on the historic “Field of Dreams.”

An adult fantasy camp for anyone 30 and older will be held at the Dyersville, Iowa, site of the movie from Aug. 30-Sept. 4. Cost is $1,800.

Hall of Famers Lou Brock, Brooks Robinson and Rollie Fingers are among some of the latter-day legends who may be among the guests.
