James Carney A Winner In Leadership Competition
James Carney, a senior at Central Valley High School, was a winner in Seattle University’s seventh Sullivan Leadership Award competition. Carney, the son of Thomas and Debbie Carney, Spokane, is guaranteed a minimum scholarship of $15,420. It is the university’s largest and most distinguished scholarship.
Carney is a member of the National Honor Society, Students Against Drunk Driving and DECA (Distributive Educative Clubs of America). He is a member of the track team, is a Presidential Academic Award winner and a state qualifier in last year’s regional DECA competition.
Kathy Dubois of Inland Northwest Distributing has been named Credit Executive of the Year for the the credit and financial development division of the Spokane Chapter of National Association of Credit Management. Central Pre-Mix Concrete Co. was named Business of the Year, and Cynthia Dietrick was named the recipient of the association’s annual Vicki Nelson Memorial Scholarship.
Bill Bongers, of Skipper Bills Inc. has been selected to receive the 1994 Mercury Outboards Dealer Congress Award for excellent representation of his Mercury product line during the 1994 model year.
Malcolm Gray and Robert Schoemaker of the Spokane office of Principal Residential Mortgage Inc. have been named Top Producers with Honor, placing in the top 25 percent of all mortgage representatives in the company in production of residential loans. They were recognized at the 1994 Top Producers Classic Awards meeting during a companysponsored trip to San Diego.
John Beutler, owner and broker of John Beutler & Associates, was named Top Selling Real Estate Salesperson in Kootenai County. This is the eighth consecutive year that he has earned the distinction.
The following students from Regents College, Albany, N.Y., have earned their degrees: Rebecca Byrd, Wenatchee, applied science nursing; Lance Reu-Ben, Spokane, associate in science nursing; Teresa Colley, Spokane, bachelor of science nursing; and Dennis Fountaine, Richland, bachelor of science liberal studies.
Chief Deputy Mike Shay graduated from the Northwest Law Enforcement Command College taught by local law enforcement and FBI agents. He is employed by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Ephrata, Wash.
