Heroin Dealer Gets 22-Year Prison Term

From Staff Reports

A heroin addict whose criminal career spans more than two decades was sentenced Monday to serve nearly 22 years in prison on three federal drug convictions.

Edward P. Collicott, 51, received the maximum 262-month sentence allowed under federal sentencing guidelines.

U.S. District Court Judge Frem Nielsen said he had no choice but to impose the harshest sentence because of Collicott’s lengthy criminal record and his lifestyle.

He was convicted by a jury in January of three federal drug-dealing

charges.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Harrington put witnesses on the stand who testified that Collicott operated a mobile drug-sales operation in Spokane.

He was convicted of possession with intent to distribute high-grade heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine.

Spokane County sheriff’s detectives, who followed Collicott to Yakima

last June, said they found sizable quantities of cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine in his car.
