Idaho Group Formed To Promote Hay Sales
Idaho farmers, processors and dairy and livestock feeders have formed a non-profit organization to promote hay sales nationwide.
The Boise-based Idaho Hay Association Inc. plans to establish a uniform grading system for Idaho hay and publish a directory of the state’s 10,000 hay growers.
Alfalfa is the second-largest crop in the state behind potatoes, according to the Idaho Agricultural Statistics Service. In 1994, growers produced 4 million tons of alfalfa valued at $332 million.
The association can be reached at 208-334-2227.
