Winners Of Annual Fiddle Competition Announced
The 29th Annual Northwest Regional Fiddle Contest was held at Trent Elementary School on April 1-2. Results for local participants are:
Small Fry Division (8 and older): Jed Bulla, second, Northport, Wash.; Ida Rose Thompson, third, Colville, Wash.; and Jonathan Stewart, fifth, Spokane.
Junior-Junior Division (12 & under): Zachary Stewart, fourth, Spokane; and Aubrey Richmond, fifth, Colville.
Junior Division (17 and under): Jennie Anne Bulla, first, Northport; Andrew Wilson, third, Spokane; and Kelli Schuh, fourth, Otis Orchards.
Young Adult Division (18-36): Warren Lee Adams, first, Spokane; Chad Clouse, third, Spokane; and Amber Adams, fourth, Spokane.
Adult Division (36-59): Mary Cooper, first, Spokane; Tom Powers, third, Deer Park; Paul Dickerson, fourth, Spokane; and Larry Lowe, fifth, Spokane.

Rachel Martin, daughter of Joanne Martin, and the late Ron Martin, has been selected to attend “ARROWplains to AEROplanes 95,” to be held July 14-23 in Chickasha, Okla. She is a senior Girl Scout with Girl Scouts Inland Empire Council. She will participate in a simulated shuttle mission and an outdoor challenge course utilizing the latest aerospace technology.
Amy Wilson, daughter of Ann and Dean Wilson, has been selected to attend “Sierra Stomping ‘95” on July 13-29 in and around Reno, Nevada. She is a senior Girl Scout with Girl Scouts Inland Empire Council.
Ann Cronkite has been awarded the Seattle Chapter Medalist Award by The American Society of Interior Designers for outstanding service to the chapter.
The Student Awareness Club at Spokane Community College recently won the State Human Rights Award in international peace and understanding from the Washington State Education Association. Club members feed the homeless, run Earth Day and human rights days and bring speakers to the campus to address human rights issues. The group was nominated by SCC instructor Karin Hilgersom, vice president of the Association for Higher Learning.
