Disney’s Magic To Be Displayed

The animation art of Walt Disney is coming to Spokane and will be on display at Douglas Gallery, 121 S. Wall, from May 5-23.

The exhibit embodies 70 years of Disney animation.

Featured in the exhibit are a number of short Mickey Mouse cartoons from the ‘30s and the ‘40s, as well as several feature films like “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Fantasia” and the “Lion King.” Two serigraphs from Disney artists Carl Banks and Eyvind Earle will also on display.

The Douglas Gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 624-4179 for more information.

Local artists on display

Eighteen Spokane artists have had their work accepted by the Lewis and Clark Juried Art Exhibition in Lewiston.

The artists are: Rebecca Abell, Lynn Bain, Mona Blessum, Beverly Blumel, Sandy Upchurch Carmichael, Dennis Cossel, Edie Dunlap, April Faires, Joe Fyfe, Thelma Giampietri, Shirly Hackett, Owen McAuley, Stan Miller, J. Vivian Pendell, Rachel Pettit, Emma Randolph, Leesa Roakes and E.L. Stewart.

Their work will be on display through May 14.

Local artist a finalist

Edie Dunlop, who has three of her watercolor paintings on display at the Lewis and Clark exhibition, had two other paintings chosen as finalists in the Northlight Magazine Cover Contest. As one of 46 finalists, she will be featured as a “Member of the Issue” in one of the magazine’s future editions.

Three-day enamel class

Acclaimed Spokane artist Harold Balazs leads a three-day enamel master class at his studio May 5 and 7. For more information, call the Spokane Art School at 328-0900.
