Fashion Show Will Benefit Goodwill

Betsy Carosella

FOR THE RECORD: (May 2, 1995): Dorothy Powers will speak to the Esther Reed Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, at 1 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. The date was incorrect in Sunday’s society column.

Is there anything that makes a person feel more smug than getting a really good bargain on something? Isn’t it more fun to receive a compliment on something new when you know how little you paid for it?

There must be something energizing about finding nice things at a good price. If not, garage and yard sales wouldn’t bloom like wildflowers at the first sign of warm weather.

The chance to find the perfect fashions at the perfect price will be presented at “New York, New York,” Goodwill Industries’ 12th annual fashion show.

The event happens May 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ridpath Hotel Empire Ballrooms.

The fashions, designer styles included, will be for sale immediately after the fashion show and brunch. Hundreds of garments will be available at a fraction of the original prices.

Bobbi Johnson, president of Goodwill, will emcee the show. Special entertainment will be presented by Victoria Nicavvcia, 1995 Miss Spokane; Tracie Olin and the Carol Lee Dancers. Models will include Miss Spokane and Tiffany Brickner, 1992 Lilac Queen. Other models are Una McDowell, Georgie Barr, Bev Maerk, Toni Garman, Julie Rogers, Heather Carlson, Jan Wigen, Raquel Shrum, Rob Behm, David Baptiste, Clark Brekke, Lane Bueche, Christopher Lefevre and Josh Carlson.

Children who will model in the show are Jeremy and Jennifer Van Orman, Mary Waller, Kelli Tikker, Margeaux and Adrienne Fox, and Jason Stobie.

All proceeds from the fashion show and brunch will benefit Goodwill Industries’ office-equipment growth fund. Reservations are required by May 11.

Call Goodwill, 838-4246, ext. 420, for further information.
