Hanauer Qualifying Time Smashes Course Record For Today’s Seafair Race
Chip Hanauer drove Miss Budweiser to a course qualifying record of 162.543 mph Saturday and finished on top of the qualifying table for today’s Texaco Cup at Seafair unlimited hydroplane race.
Hanauer took to the 2-1/2 mile course early and recorded his record lap shortly after qualifying began at 9 a.m. Hanauer broke his own course record of 162.451 mph, which he set in 1993.
Mark Tate, who was fastest on Friday behind the wheel of Smokin’ Joe’s, raised his speed to 162.027 mph to finish the final qualifying round at the No. 2 position.
