It’s tough to be just 27 and already a widow. But then model and would-be actress Anna Nicole Smith knew the day was coming.
And the day came Saturday when Smith’s husband, 90-year old Texas millionaire J. Howard Marshall, died at a Houston hospital. The couple had been married 13 months.
Smith insisted that she “did not marry my husband for his money. I’m very much in love with my husband. And he’s very much in love with me.” But legal battles with Marshall’s family, who had called her “a greedy gold-digger,” shortened the time they had together.
“I kept his father alive for four years,” a pouty Smith said of her stepson, Pierce Marshall. “He should be praising me. Instead, I’m getting the butt end of this. I can’t pay my bills.”
At issue now is Marshall’s $550 million estate.
